Since I was picking up our turkey from the next village over, I missed the live goose delivery, beheading, and poor attempt at removing feathers by a bunch of first timers (hence the stovetop blow torch clean-up by J's helpful host mom!)

When I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ukraine, I walked into the kitchen on Thanksgiving to my friend's host mom in her robe with a cigarette in her mouth as she used the stove as a blow torch to finish removing feathers from a goose.

I would have never thought a stove could do that.
