Very useful reminder of the huge variations in alcohol harm across the UK. Thanks Colin.
Here's the geography of alcohol-specific mortality in the UK.

Such a clear North West/South East gradient, with a few notable exceptions on the South Coast. Glasgow and surrounds still have the highest rates, but Sunderland, Belfast and Blackpool aren't that far behind.
