TILT: One of the most important albums of the year! Kate Bush, Hans Zimmer, Annie Lennox, and Ed O’Brien are among the 1000 artists who contributed, co-writing the 12 tracks. It requires careful listening, and possibly, action!

The duet of Keith an Hollie Kennith began releasing dreampop as “Mint Julep” with this brilliant debut album “Save Your Season”. It is so well crafted; blending beats, shoegazery, and Hollie’s eerily hidden (at times) vocals. Their music has fed my need ever since the Cocteau Twins wrapped up.

Originally trickled out as a set of color EPs, Casey Crescenzo’s collected project is a monument of emotion, composition, and musical style. This is a delicious 2.5 hrs of “Do Not Disturb”! By the time you reach “Progress” you’ll wonder how you got there from “This Body”! TDH in their prime!

Only 7 mos apart, these albums were conjoined in my teenage ears. SotR establishes its “country” bona fides leaning on the pedal steel. That band fell apart, leaving McGuinn to carry on, keeping the pedal steel handy but also letting his rock flag fly! Many more than two sides to this band tho.

TILT (Today I Listened To)

“Threads” by “Now Now” is an indie album from 2012. It may sound a bit “young”, but is possessed of a strength + vulnerability via Cacie Dalager’s yearning vocals, about friends, lovers, sleep, all over chomping guitars and bashing drums, with a touch of dreampop.

TILT (Today I Listened To) The beautiful 2007 “Fauxliage” album pairs Leigh Nash (Sixpence None the Richer) with Leeb & Fulber (of Delerium). Nash’s ultra-pure voice makes for a highly listenable, at times melancholy vibe. I’ve never regretted going back for another listen to this fine album!

TILT (Today I Listened To): “Garden Shed” by “England”.

A 1977 British prog rock album that eluded my ears until now. Hints of Gentle Giant and Yes, and, despite the heavy use of Mellotron (great side story about the one they used) it has their own sound overall. Melody lines weave nicely!

This is Risky, a 15 yr old feral, scooped up off the curb of the I-10 bridge where it crosses the Mississippi River at ~4 wks old. We have only an arms’ length relationship, as she has remained a “scaredy cat” all her life and will not be held. She does crawl under the blankets on a cold night tho…

So, a cat pic because who doesn’t love cat pics? This is Izzy, one of my housemates. She’s a fairly spry 13 yrs old and just wants to get her face as physically close to mine as possible.
