"The only real solution to economic and political inequality is to abolish the mechanisms that create power differentials in the first place— . . . make it impossible to enforce the privileges of any economic or political elite."
There's No Such Thing as Revolutionary Government
You can’t abolish class society without abolishing the asymmetry between ruler and ruled. That means abolishing the state.

"It is possible to be committed to revolutionary struggle by all means necessary without holding life cheap. It is possible to eschew the sanctimonious moralism of pacifism without thereby developing a cynical lust for blood."
Against the Logic of the Guillotine
Fetishizing the guillotine is like fetishizing the state: it means celebrating an instrument of murder that will always be used chiefly against us.

More than 1 in 3 people were first arrested before their 16th birthday – does this look like a society that cares about uplifting youth, or imprisoning them?

Politicians aren’t going to save you.
This isn’t an edgy anarchist take.
Things are about to get a lot worse for the most vulnerable, & the Democratic Party is not going to provide effective opposition.
You need to think seriously about how you can defend yourself & others against state violence.

A thing I wish would happen more often with academic discussions of PIC abolition is that instead of engaging in conceptual analysis (what *is* "prison?" "abolition"?) sans citation and/or relying upon nonabolitionist secondary lit, critics engaged systematically with what abolitionists actually say

Today I was granted access to speak with incarcerated firefighters.

They told me:
- they hadn’t showered in 5 days
- they were not provided regularly meals
- they were working 24 hours in a row
- they feel under appreciated and underpaid

The media has focused on wealthy, White neighborhoods. But the fire in Altadena--a racially and economically diverse suburb--deserves more attention, because insurance may not cover their rebuilding costs, forcing families out and leading the neighborhood to gentrify.
