Keep your eyes open, and you might see another species of swan with a black and yellow beak wintering in the UK - Whoopers come here in greater numbers.
Stolen image showing more yellow on the beak.

In a cold winter over sixty five years ago, I took a trip from Dover to Ramsgate.

Bearly Politics
"They Will Also Need to Go Home"

A sitting Conservative MP has introduced a bill that would make lawful residents deportable for earning under £38,700 - and Britain’s political class is barely blinking.

Nor here - the first photo was in April when the cubs were young, the second in August when they were a bit more grown up.
Their set is off to the right near the metal fence.

Here's a larger scale map of part of the area from the National Library of Scotland collection - OS 1:1250 published in 1970, split in two as they are screenshots.
I lived at 1 Marlborough Gardens from 1968 to 1970, later swept away by the road widening.

Here's the complete set of black and white photos that I took of the clearance of the area of terraced housing between Woodhouse Lane and Saint Mark's Road near the University of Leeds in 1974.

Saint Mark's church, and then brick islands in a sea of rubble.

I took these photos near the University in Leeds in the early 1970s, I think, shortly before the whole are was flattened.
If those walls could speak, what stories they would tell - especially the chippie.
