Cool image from www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/... . X-axis, economic adversity. Y-axis, 20 years later, propensity of that state towards "D", for personality traits associated with being generally jerkish towards others.

You kinda assume that it's high D in red states, low D in blue, but that's wrong!

NPR responded to the Trump administration's shocking attack on free speech with a Morning Edition series that took an “on the one hand/on the other hand” framing to an assault on core democratic rights.

Hey NPR, Free Speech Isn’t Just a Vibe
NPR offers only two possibilities: Trump is increasing free speech, or censorship is just a swinging pendulum whose victims change as administrations change.

Just blocked two who quote-posted me with calls for violence against ICE. I’m nonviolent myself, but that’s not why I blocked them. Their beliefs are up to them. But once again: anyone advocating violence on a fed-monitored website is a rightwing troll posting bait or a fool taking bait.

As Trump and Musk continue their pursuit of power unfettered by the Constitution, many citizens wonder why their elected representatives in Washington are doing so little to stop the administrative coup. They also might wonder why the media so rarely ask the same question.

The Washington Post is famed for opposing a prior Republican president with an expansive view of executive power. These days the paper’s higher-ups are careful not to offend the president or Musk, and even call on the Constitution-defying billionaire duo to push further.

Even if Trump simply chooses not to enforce the ban against TikTok, the Supreme Court has provided politicians with judicial justification that free speech concerns can be subverted if you say the words “national security” and “foreign adversary” enough.

Trump Vow to ‘Save’ TikTok No Reprieve for Free Speech
This could very well be merely a delay in a ban, rather than long-term preservation of the TikTok platform.

Psh, how could you possibly call Elon a Nazi? He only:

- Did a Sieg Heil at the inauguration
- Obsesses over Western birth rates
- Had grandparents in the Canadian Nazi Party
- Endorsed Germany's far-right party, AfD
- Replatformed avowed white nationalists

You triggered libs.
