The nation’s capital is short of GPs, imagine the plight of Rural Remote!

Aus has to accept the fact that It cannot be self sufficient with GPs for the foreseeable future. Our strategy has to FOCUS on how BEST to manage it @racgppresident.bsky.social @maritacowie.bsky.social
Our GP shortage in CBR is deepening & it will impact the people who can least afford it.

We need a plan to train & attract GPs in the Capital.

I recently wrote to Education Minister to support ANU's request for more training places at our medical school.

The ANU's Medical Centre will not have any doctors next year
Clinic staff fear patients will be without medication and care.

Sadly, in hospitals I see many grounded astronauts and caged eagles. Specialists and clinicians who are gifted and trained to reach the stars but shackled by the burden of administration for which they were not trained for. Complete mismatch. Loss of purpose, value and training.

So many of my patients leave tertiary hospitals without understanding what was wrong or what was done. Plain language explanations are essential for continuity of care—and for patients to truly understand their health journey. #HealthLiteracy #PatientCare@racgppresident.bsky.social
