Most (all?) external drives are just standard internal drives in a housing with a board to convert them to usb (pic is one from one of my HDDs since it was cheaper as an external drive). If you can open it without damaging it then it's worth a shot taking it out and putting it in a desktop

Bonus pic: The wood strips (cut down tongue depressors) are glued on with UV resin, but I couldn't find my UV lamp, so I made this little curing lamp as a kind of baby's first electrical project. I am very much a beginner so I was surprised that it worked first try.

Problem: Exercise is both boring and tiring and I would probably do more of it if it was just tiring
Solution: Make a phone holder for this old stationary bike so I can watch youtube videos
I made the top out of wood to make it less slippy so hopefully the phone won't slip off sideways

The fix for this is kinda scary because of water, but the steps are:
1) Immediately unplug keyboard
2) Disassemble it and wash it with water, press all the keys to clean the switches
3) Blast it with canned air to dry
4) Put it in a box with desiccant for a few days to completely dry
5) Reassemble
