The best data we currently have about the scope of MMIP in Alaska comes from a 2018 Urban Indian Health Institute Report. You can read it at this link

In 2023 I had the privilege of speaking with artist about their advocacy to end violence against Indigenous Alaskans. I want to highlight their voices, always, but especially in light of the AKDPS’s refusal to assist Data for Indigenous Justice.

So happy to be home and working on salmon skins.
Last week I visited the IAIA program for the first time. It was an amazing experience. One unexpected moment of joy was talking about salmon leather with Veronica Bustamente.

The most delightful and unexpected surprise I’ve had in a bathroom. The overhead lights are motion activated and only the disco lights were on when I walked in.

So pleased to have this poem selected by Laura Tohe, a poet that I’ve long looked up to, for Poem a Day.

One of the things I’m happiest about on these screenshots is how the text and images ties me to my communities. I treasure the Dena’ina language that I am learning from my relatives. Con’t.
