Contrast this to my son’s experience while traveling in New Zealand. He burned himself on a cookstove. Went to the ER, was given multiple medications and supplies to take with him, and was also seen for a follow up. His grand total cost was around $100. Socialized medicine? Yes please.

I’ve been with the same employer for 15 years and have watched my plan get steadily worse, while costing me more. I’m lucky I have a job that offers benefits at all. At least insurance would kick in eventually. Many don’t even have that. 2/3
