Postdoctoral fellow in the Women's Heart Health Laboratory at the Institute of Exercise and Environmental Medicine | Aiming to bridge gaps in autonomic-cardiovascular health
Excited to see my final doctoral work published with @americanheart.bsky.social! We found that college-aged Black individuals had greater resting, but not evoked, cutaneous #vasoconstriction. These responses seemed reliant upon an environment greater in #oxidativestress. #academicsky
Mechanisms of Elevated Cutaneous Vascular Tone in College-Aged Black Individuals | Hypertension
BACKGROUND: Hypertension prevalence is greatest in the US non-Hispanic Black population, possibly through reduced vascular function. Although heightened cutaneous vascular tone and vasoconstrictor res...

Excited to see our most recent publication in @expphysiol.bsky.social! We found that healthy #aging reduces the regional vasoconstrictor responses to limb lowering in both the arm and leg. This may have important implications for orthostatic #bloodpressure regulation in older adults.
Ageing attenuates regional vasoconstriction during acute lowering of upper and lower limbs
The venoarteriolar and myogenic response (VMR) is a non-adrenergic, non-baroreflex-mediated mechanism that increases local vascular resistance and contributes to blood pressure (BP) regulation during...

JWST observations of our very own black hole (the one at the centre of the Milly Way) show that its brightness changes basically all the time. A very nice ABC News article (including some quotes by me 😎) 🔭🧪 www.abc.net.au/news/science...
James Webb Space Telescope captures light show from Milky Way's black hole
A black hole might conjure images of a dark, quiet void, but never-seen-before images captured by the James Webb Space Telescope reveals the centre of the Milky Way looks more like fireworks.

An update on NIH funding and the loophole that's keeping it out of scientists' reach. H/T to @avaskham.bsky.social, who had it first. #HigherEd #AcademicSky

Despite a Judge’s Ruling, Large Swaths of NIH Funding Remain Effectively Frozen
