I don’t have a lot of positive thoughts or things to say right now, but here is my cat and she has no idea what a tariff is.

More Gettysburg today, a hike in a less traveled area of the battlefield. Walking the ground like this connects the books and stories to the physical world, and I always leave with a renewed vigor to learn more. Having awesome people to share it with makes it all the better. Happy New Year!

Not sure how I ended up with so many followers! You all even seem to be real people? In any case, hello out there. I'm a budding historian of the First World War & more generally American & Canadian military + international history. Proud @greatwargroup.bsky.social member!

Sending out good vibes.

On the day of the Armistice, a number of Americans troops were in Winchester, England, and observed the moment with a service in Winchester Cathedral. I retraced their steps last year.

It was incredible to be able to attend Canada’s national Remembrance Day ceremony in Ottawa today. It was moving and very meaningful for me, especially laying my poppy on the tomb of the unknown soldier afterwards. #CanadaRemembers

Hit up some Cold War history today at the Diefenbunker! Technically it is the “Central Emergency Government Headquarters” designed in the 1950s to house key 🇨🇦 government and military personnel in the case of a nuclear attack. It was decommissioned in 1994.

I was a sucker for the USMA’s merch from the rivalry series - a nod to the 3rd infantry division.

His remains were repatriated in 1921 and he is laid to rest near his family in St. Paul. Joe was my great-grandmothers cousin.

Joe spent most of the war on bodyguard duty for General Pershing at HQ in Chaumont. In October 1918, however, he was sent to the front and he was assigned to stretcher bearer duty and was hit by shrapnel carrying a wounded comrade.

Remembering Joseph C Francois, killed in action on this day in 1918 during the Meuse Argonne offensive. Joe, from St. Paul, MN. applied for enlistment in the U.S. Marine Corps on April 9, 1917, three days after the U.S. declared war. After training he sailed for France in August on the USS Henderson
