No space for Learn to fly? I must say I've got a soft spot for it after the young one loved watching this joyous cover..

Another alternative regarding the AI used...

IMO the only AI involved is the LLM that generated the press release (and even then not that well).

Would be handy to have some independent assessment of these types of claims, their tech specs are rubbish marketing drivel and there's no data sheet available.

Funny you should mention that, but the council just came out with this plan for lots of apartments.

The nimby community are up in arms, but as someone who used to live in the old school apartments near the station I think this is great..

Wonder if @davidosmond.bsky.social knows?

My recommendation is to change it to "Musée du Louvre". Special characters, mix of upper and lower case, basically bullet proof.

Even independent websites state that it will take centuries to crack.

There were some weird UI choices (per below), but aligning closer with the app seemed to be a pretty good general idea..

After 2 days I found them. Current Observations are cleverly* found under Past or Places. Haven't found the map version though..

*Not cleverly

The radar was one of the things I actually liked, it had 90 mins past and 90 mins forecast whereas they've reverted to a 30 mins past radar..

Why are they so bad at this?

Another dumb (or maybe not) question, how could identity verification work on a mobile device when the driver's licence is on the mobile?

In the Services Vic app you can't even screenshot the qr code..

I wonder if this is why tech bros have an unrealistic view of AI's benefit, because it is quite useful in tech related tasks (eg. for me regex/spunk queries/sql/basic code) and they're extrapolating this level of utility to other domains?

The diff for me is that testing is part of tech workflow..

notes on gatesnotes, in a thread

"A new way to look at the problem" - er, no, he's been running this line for DECADES

On the headline: you can absolutely guarantee anyone presenting themselves as telling tough, hard truths is about to deliver some self-aggrandising nonsense

And some really good points in this one

I wanted to offer some thoughts on the Gates climate memo that has been circulating this week. While I can't directly speak for others, I can say that my own response is one of dismay & deep frustration (and that this view is shared by many climate/Earth scientists). [1/n]
