Another alternative regarding the AI used...

IMO the only AI involved is the LLM that generated the press release (and even then not that well).

Would be handy to have some independent assessment of these types of claims, their tech specs are rubbish marketing drivel and there's no data sheet available.

Signed up to an interesting labeller yesterday that can tell you things like how online an acc is and how often they post.

Reuters is as expected, but one weird thing is how there are lots of individuals who also post constantly 24/7 like a deranged insomniac..

Maybe google could take some of that sweet AI $$$$ and work on their gmail spam/scam filters a bit..

Anyone else seeing these get through?

I reckon @betootaadvocate.bsky.social has some of the best lines re gambling in oz..

"Online betting is a cancer on our society. People look at Australians and their online betting like we look at Americans with their guns. It's ridiculous and one day, our children would be shocked.."

My recommendation is to change it to "Musée du Louvre". Special characters, mix of upper and lower case, basically bullet proof.

Even independent websites state that it will take centuries to crack.

A few lollipops left over from Halloween (our suburb does a Saturday afternoon version), most impressive was that kids took 3kg of apples..

I didn't get that vibe from his article (eg. See below extract about how every 0.1°C matters), but haven't viewed all his interviews etc.

But I agree with your other post that AI slop (especially video) is bad for climate

Seems like a "Por qué no los dos", where he's advocating addressing climate change and addressing health/agricultural issues in developing countries..

He's a bit techno-optimist for my liking, but that's a mild critique..

Given a portion of my timeline seems to be people bagging out Bill Gates, I looked up his piece that caused the stir.

I'm not sure I get the bluesky outrage?

Some of the Waubra turbines in question, from the top of Mount Bolton nearby.

Hopefully in a couple of years will be able to face the other way and see the proposed Nyaninyuk Wind Farm come to fruition too - interesting seeing the community comments page for that one (nothing new under the sun etc)

Good times..
October 27, 2025 at 8:37 PM
The headline in the actual article is much better, it's like they've got AI to come up with the most clickbait headline for the digital front page?

"Bullying, harassment, intimidation: Shocking backlash for farming families who welcome renewables"
October 26, 2025 at 1:26 AM
Weird that this is the headline, my takeaway was the guy aiming a rifle at a helicopter inspecting power lines, and the potential for sov cit like violence..

Btw, the phone call was talking about Transmission lines across Bruce's land (with significant compensation)..

Not quite as good in the colder parts of Oz. Would need to 3.5x my 6.4kW system here in Melbourne to meet our winter demand - and that's without an EV - highlighting the need for more wind, good interconnectors, and Snowy pumped hydro to come online.

Apparently there's known issues that are being rectified. Wonder if the PTUA can get more info out of them?

Just a 6.4kW solar system at the moment, and even if we had batteries the Amber model wouldn't suit our winter profile at the moment (see June stats).

I think there's potentially more value in an Amber model but just for the exports instead of both consumption and export..

One thing I like about daylight savings in Melbourne is still generating 2.5kW after 6pm in October.

And one thing I don't like about the current NEM is getting paid $0.005/kWh for this versus 9c spot.

Octopus has a plan in Texas that gives the market price for FiT, I'd like that here..

So it appears bees like this pear tree, it's the 2nd time in 2 years that they've swarmed here. Have let our apiarist know..
October 6, 2025 at 3:33 AM
An interesting thing for September, solar in the market is out of -ve territory for avg Sep value for the first time since the start of the war in Ukraine.

BESS is up 150% on last year and is no longer getting paid to charge.

I wonder if BESS capacity is reducing the -ve gen or too early to tell?

On the other hand, The Age is spinning that the primary controversy is dressing up as Kneecap.. That one made me support Geelong a bit more than I did

Just took this one and I think it's also a gang-gang. It's filling my gutters with gum leaves but I reckon that's a pretty good trade off for having them so close..
