Went exploring an old WW1 bunker yesterday in Seaton Sluice. Sprawling place, really interesting. #history #northumberland

Been playing Gloomhaven with a friend recently, only done a few scenarios but my word it’s incredible. Lot to get your head around but it’s such a fun game. #boardgames

Well well well, done the intensive driving course, went and did my test today and bam, passed first time!! Genuinely cannot wait to get out in my Corsa and go exploring.

Played Planet Unknown with a friend tonight, fantastic. Premise is you each have a planet you must develop by placing tiles. Really feels like a game with limitless replayability. Can even play it solo (always a bonus). Definitely recommended #boardgames

Finished Alexander’s Legacy by Robert Fabbri tonight. I don’t like being disparaging about books but I can’t express how disappointed I was with this. I adore this period of history and it’s ripe for retelling—so much intrigue and action—but this was a real chore to get through. Such a shame.

Had a GP appointment first thing, figured well I’ll take the chance to go to my favourite café (Thirteen in Whitley Bay) and do some work. Half an hour on, I’ve finished my coffee and the laptop is still grinding its way through an update. Number of words edited - zero.

Had a visit to Barter Books in Alnwick last weekend and couldn’t leave without buying something. So of course I found an ancient history-related book that piqued my interest. #booksky #books #reading

Lot of film/TV/game music in my #SpotifyWrapped but surprised at the number of Italian songs in the top 5. Absolute bangers though

Fun couple of games with friends down at Bay Games in Whitley Bay tonight—Rebirth and the Forbidden Desert. Been wanting to play the latter for a long time. #boardgames

Spotted on my walk back home from Whitley Bay earlier. Brave at this time of year 🥶

Just finished reading John Fullerton’s Spy Game. Not sure why but really couldn’t get into it, despite being well-written, Le Carré-esque in pacing, and an ideal setting for a spy story. Worth trying if you like Cold War espionage, I wanted to like it more though #booksky

Currently reading Robert Fabbri’s historical fiction about the conflicts between Alexander’s successors, one of my favourite periods of history.

I’m lucky that I get to work on these but Michael Miller’s Songs of Chaos series with Holt and Ash are wonderful books.

Read the Hobbit and then Lord of the Rings when I was about 11-12, remember being near end of primary school, then went on to read the Shannara series. Edition of The Hobbit had this cover, still at my parents’ house

My mate took this photo of me the other day—sort of looks like I’ve had it taken for my own funeral but I like it

I’ve not done very well with reading this year for one reason or another but finished @matthewharffy.bsky.social’s A Night of Flames today, thoroughly enjoyable. Loved the echoes of Apocalypse Now #amreading #books #historicalfiction
