Software guy and nerdy digital artist from Halifax Nova Scotia. He did Bloomsday Halifax and Starshipsstarthere.
It seems Trump isn't the only one having a bad day today. 420 (ha) seemed to be a floor for TSLA recently, but it dove right through that today.

Whenever I see these on the Citadel for ceremonial salutes etc I'm always thinking "Cole Harbour is finally going to pay for their misdeeds!"

Last night my AirPods case fell out of my pocket on my way home, but I was able to use FindMy to locate them again. In the dark and rain. Half a km from my house. This is at least the third time that app/tech has saved me hundreds of dollars.

A very simple idea using very advanced technology.

Wrapping up my last volunteer shift at @halconscificon.bsky.social - this year I discovered that I can add flair to my lanyard. One of the vendors let me pick a button and I went with my favourite Tay song

I fucking LOVE Bonaventure. I still go up and wander around a bit every time I visit Montreal, even if I'm not staying there, just to back in the utopian brutalism

It's #n7day and also the first day of @halconscificon.bsky.social - so when I'm not in my cozy Commander Shepard cosplay I'll be volunteering on the vendor floor. If you see me say hi!

Some issues are brutally hilarious about politics, but this one is killing it with the absurdist gags

Back in Halifax and happy to be back to reading the print edition of @theonion.com at my local hipster Freehouse. This headline (and picture) made me almost spit beer everywhere — beer which appropriately had a happy hour reduced price

At the Ozzy exhibit at the Birmingham museum. It has some of his gold records and awards and the like, but there's also a screening room where you can actually watch live footage, which feels like the best, um, tribute.

It's nowhere near loud enough though

So not only does Birmingham's central library feel like a larger and more densely decorated version of Halifax's, but one of their mottos is "Be Bold"

It's also Halloween day 2 here, so not only is it a busy downtown Saturday night and a Germanic Christmas fair, but plenty of people are in costume too

I'm slightly drunk outside a Tim Hortons. I did *not* expect to find a Tim's in the UK. Anyhow I'm now quantum-leaping into Queen Street Toronto circa 2006

Highlights also include mulled wine and pretzels and cheesy pop music.

So Birmingham has a giant Christmas street Market in partnership with Frankfurt, so I'm getting my Hofbrau and Currywurst on

The more places I go the more impressed I am with the CN Tower. Not only is it very tall but it doesn't look like ass

They're serious about their Sabbath tributes here in Birmingham. There's even an Ozzy exhibit in the big museum.

Halloween leftovers: Scream on Sheepcote Street.

Appropriately just a few blocks from Birmingham's Black Sabbath Bridge.

Trying the draughts in this Birmingham UK hotel bar, and the Camden Lager comes in this weird large tumbler which just somehow feels wrong for a lager but ok.

(And yes I'm catching up on the Blue Jays while I'm here)

Windows XP but Derbyshire instead of Mendocino

That said, it means plenty of opportunity for this kind of thing

Problem with being in the UK is I get one of these alerts every half hour or so

Nearly 3 hours up and down Win Hill in the Peak District, 9km distance, and half a km up (and then down again). I've earned this pint!

My train trip today is going through some very very British town names. This feels like AI but trust me it's real
October 26, 2025 at 11:12 AM
Found the Lewis Chessmen! Mission accomplished now to catch a train
