Here for books, music, and software dev/tech stuff.
As a kid who grew up on choose your own adventure books and then fell in love with point and click adventure games, this book hits such a sweet spot. The only thing it's missing is the game's fabulous music and voice acting.

My kid's Social Studies class has been playing the 80s Carmen Sandiego games. Another occasion to appreciate @archive.org for keeping classics alive and accessible 🏆

Very fun episode at usual, Happy Birthday! 🎉

The "stop grepping, start hacking" discussion from the "jumping into a new codebase" chapter (41:17) was lovely. One of those core.py discussions you can chew on regardless of how/where you use Python 🤘

When I heard that Ian Anderson would appear on Opeth's next album I didn't realize we'd get spoken word and flute on multiple tracks.

As a fan of both Jethro Tull and Opeth, hearing Anderson's voice lead into an Akerfeldt growl is wonderful.

Dimity Jones is live, neat! The gist is you get a giant text file with some readable story/clue bits up top and a bunch of gibberish below. You use the clues to progress through the story, deciphering a chunk at a time. Solid Advent of Code-adjacent nerd bait.

I wrote a blog post explaining what the #PSF Conduct WG does since I have heard some people get it wrong.

What the PSF Conduct WG does
In the past week I had two people separately tell me what they thought the PSF Conduct WG did and both were wrong (and incidentally in the same way). As such, I wanted to clarify what exactly the WG d...
