My book is officially out in the US! (Some links and additional comments below.) The back cover blurb says that it "will challenge Disney lovers and sceptics alike to think more deeply about the things that matter to them." If that describes you or anyone you know, consider giving it a look!

“It turns out that banishing the slur from public discourse was, in fact, important. Because now it’s back and it turns out that it does matter when subtext becomes actual text, when terrible people enable open hatred and bigotry, encouraging others to emulate them, degrading us all.”

While it’s certainly dark times, I found lots of joy from brilliant scholars last year. So to celebrate & promote them, I’m counting down my “Ten Favorite Books in US History from 2025.”
Caveats: I’m not claiming these as “best,” as I’m just one biased voice. Plus, I haven’t read everything. /1
I'd just let the top 4 teams battle it out and everyone else can play fun, competitive games against each other to end the year. Maybe put them on a holiday like New Year's Day. That sounds fun.
Parsons tearing his ACL is a devastating turn of events for Green Bay. DL wasn’t getting consistent pressure outside of him, and the corners have been up and down. He covered up a lot.

If you want evidence of a just universe, you really shouldn't be a sports fan.
I'm just a mere philosophy professor, but among the many problems with this statement is that I'm deeply skeptical that *anyone* knows what employers' AI competency needs actually are--employers most definitely included!

I'm a bit late to this one, but after every episode of this (beloved) podcast, I have two thoughts: 1. Why do so many terrible books sell so many copies. 2. I wonder if I could write one. 🤔🤔🤔

God give me the grace and humility to stop staring at a spelling bee puzzle at Amazing or even Great instead of wasting precious time trying to convince myself i am a Genius

This post has given me the strength to stop at Amazing for three days straight. 😂😂😂 So much time saved!

Quick end of semester thought as I work through final assignments . . . A decade ago, I was probably concerned about grade inflation. Now, I find it almost impossible to care. The more fundamental problem is that there is no agreement about what grades mean.

One of the trends I've seen in student writing over the last few years is that they don't seem to believe in paragraphs. Are other people seeing this? And what is the AI influence on paragraph structure (or lack thereof)?

There seem to be a lot of running think pieces circling about these days. As a philosopher who is a relatively new runner, I think I'm well-positioned to write think piece on running think pieces. Happy to crank one out for a new pair of running shoes.

I feel this deeply. Political and moral catastrophe are the background noise of our lives, and there is a weariness that can pervade everything we do. I've been thinking a lot about what that means for our experience of the good things in our lives.
"Life keeps happening, and the country is going to hell. Bills, children, spouses, lectures, books to be written, archives to visit—and the country is going to hell."
