How do I iterate over all Spur in a Rodeo?

Some people really ought to stick to cache invalidation!

I can’t quite decide if I want to loose my time by partaking in mass outrage or by acting as self insert in some stranger's brainy project.

I don’t need a longer cable. That’s perfectly fine!

For the love of all that is sane and descent!

Got recommended: Build an "LED tester" by half-wave rectifying the mains and putting a big resistor between you and an unpolarized plug.

I really hope they're just trolling us!

I find that system programmers often go out of their way to avoid heap allocations. Thouth, we don't typically articulate all the reasons why. Here I try to enumerate all the reasons which I can think of:

When the WiFi login page is “404 not found” either your IT guy has some maintenance on their hand or their evil twin is doing a piss poor job.

The little card this eBay seller puts in the enveloppe gives off an air of DIY affinity and... How should I put this? Trademark abuse?

Startup culture has conditioned the industry into putting up fake landing pages to learn if anyone clicks Buy.

It's nice to know early on whether an idea gets traction. But this also encourages developers to sell vaporware and ship out unfinished products.

Profiling can become a crutch that you lean on. It won't pick a better algorithm or streamline the data layout. It can't weed spaghetti out of the inner loop.

Flex your brain muscle. Restructure the code, rewrite with performance in mind. Striving for simplicity trumps staring at a flame graph.

LinkedIn is such a bland social network. Lots of carefully worded, LLM assisted, meaningless speech. I understand you may not want to come off as too opinionated when looking for a job, but I don't want to read any more boring resume tips, thank you!

When I bounce ideas off ChatGPT, I sometimes worry it’s just echoing my own thoughts.

So I ask: “Can you point me to papers that explore these ideas?”

And then it sends me a bunch of paywalled articles.

How is it that the AI has "read" them, but I can’t?

Bummer.

Would anyone attending #cppnorth be interested to have a birds-of-a-feather about alternative system languages like Rust, Zig, Odin etc.
