Circular economy and food systems politico
I agree, it's the right thing to do. Better public services is the key thing for this Government to deliver no matter what.

However it's disingenuous to say people knew they were voting for a possible income tax rise.

I greatly respect what you do, but on this one there's no spinning it really. Labour were purposely vague about potential tax rises. I knocked on enough doors having to stick to the talking point of the only tax rises being on Non-Dom, Private Schools and Energy windfall profits.

Good point, as British Jews we say Ma-Carb-ee but maybe Israeli's do say it as Ma-cabbie. I'm not sure

In talking about it in the biblical sense it's Mah-cabbie, but the sports teams or the UK Jewish sports community organisation Maccabi GB - it's ma-carb-ee

Energy prices would help, but removing Brexit friction is the biggest theoretically solvable one

Also the collective introduction of the Employment Rights Bill, Minimum Wage increases & packaging taxes all coming together as a perfect storm. (Not blaming the Govt - dealt a terrible hand)

There is an excellent Government Food Strategy that would go a long way to addressing many drivers of food price inflation but it has zero buy in from No.10, and Steve Reed & Daniel Zeichner, its architects have been moved from Defra

The legally binding food waste reduction targets fall short of SDG12.3 levels but what a monumental step to introduce them in the first place.

Defra seem to be showing ambition in this area, but we can only hope the rest of Government don't kill it under the catch-all crusade against "red tape"

Hopefully it doesn't delay the Circular Economy Strategy - one of Steve Reed's priorities and a great framing of Defra as a "Growth Department"
