So when I say "the problem is plugins" I don't blanket mean using plugins.

I mean that there will never be a line in the sand about what plugins constitute "fine" and what ones don't, and because the community can't have that discussion maturely, no answer will never be ratified for official rules.

By that some token, what about third party tools that try to cut lag or reduce ping issues?

Or what about accessibility tools because although XIV is better than some games, it can still have visual issues that present an issue to visually disabled folks, etc.

There is no single uniform answer.

The game's official stance is, after all: literally zero.

But FFLogs was indispensable in solving DSR and everybody was using it, so the unofficial stance even by world racers is that tool use *is* okay.

So what tools? Tools that only let you look "in review" but aren't active during? Define why.

TL:DR

You can't take advantage of the shared pool of knowledge generated by progression streams, make strats and theorycraft from other teams that you can see from all eight PoVs, and then REFUSE to contribute back into it with streams of your own while trying to claim faster/better clear times.

Meanwhile, teams that don't stream get to benefit from this knowledge from the teams that do, without contributing back into the pool of shared knowledge through their own streams.

Even if plugins were not an issue (and we have to accept that they are, repeatedly) it's still an unfair exchange.

Part of the joy of the world first race imo is the fact that, with this many teams streaming, all the teams involved in progging can look at clips of other teams and use them to theorycraft and build strats.

There's a pool of shared information amongst the racers. This is good imo, it's fun.
