This is the part of the story where people begin using a tragedy to further their own agendas. Let the bodies cool and the investigation begin. Maybe you’ll suddenly remember all the pilots’ complains about how dangerous this airspace is, and how it’s been roundly ignored.

I am no fan of this administration. But the rush to blame them for tonight’s crash at DCA is just wrongheaded and smacks of opportunism. This has been an accident waiting to happen. I feel for the survivors of the passengers and crew members, but the truth is, this has been going on for years.

Good example of how to take charge and handle yourself in a fuel emergency. FARs require any IFR flight plan to land with at least 45 minutes of fuel; they had 40 mins in the tank. Right decision with the winds and NY traffic to declare and get the priority you need. Great work all around.

There was a study of TCAS RAs (the ones described below) in BOS back in '07, which amounted to 9 of these events happening daily. Yes, nine times.
