I'm re-reading Kokoro by Souseki Natsume. It's obviously Given that inspired me to do this. I read this with my Japanese teacher a few years ago (I was considerably less motivated and enthusiastic about it back then), and I'm delighted to see how much better my reading has gotten since.

(Imo it must be an inside joke when Mafuyu and Ritsuka despair over Natsume Sōseki and their culture homework because it seems like Kizu loves to indulge in these 😂)

I love the layers of storytelling in the Akiharu confession scene 🍁🌸. Ugetsu is a seasonal word in haiku that means the full moon can't be seen because of the rain (more specifically the harvest moon). A regret that the moon can't be seen.
