The White House boasted the Declaration of Independence was written in English to justify repealing a 2000 federal language access executive order.

Fact: The Declaration was translated into German and published in the colonies even before many of the original signers added their signatures to it.

Do you make less than $360,000 a year?

Your taxes are about to go UP.

And you have Trump, Musk, and the Republicans to thank for it.

February 2025: there is now a public Community Note on a DOGE tweet.

The DOGE website has not corrected its error.

Ethical news media outlets like the AP & Reuters — which Elon Musk falsely claims intentionally deceive us — correct & retract similar errors of facts or figures.

USAID last year purchased $2 billion in U.S.-grown crops from corn and soybeans to wheat, sorghum, vegetable oil and peas.
USAID funds projects in some 120 countries aimed at fighting epidemics, educating children, providing clean water and supporting other areas of development.

Congress created USAID in the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961.
Congress did not repeal the law.
The Supreme Court has not declared the law of agency unconstitutional.
No POTUS has authority to shut it down nor impound funds Congress appropriated — much less Musk.

That’s illegal.

What chapter in The Handmaid’s Tale is happening here?

A new, undated memo from the Department of Transportation urges the department to give grant preferences to “communities with marriage and birth rates higher than the national average.”

The memo also said recipients of federal transportation dollars must cooperate with immigration enforcement, a hit to so-called sanctuary cities.

Undocumented immigrants pay taxes, largely in payroll taxes — that go towards SS, Medicaid, and unemployment. They paid $96.7 billion in federal, state, and local taxes in 2022. These tax dollars paid by undocumented immigrants go toward funding programs that these workers are barred from accessing.

When you are buying food, remember our food and ag system exists today because of immigrants, including people who are undocumented. They are our neighbors,
the people who grow our food, and who are hard working for their families. They deserve access to work authorizations rather than deportation.
