Israeli, leftist, Jewish, Tel Avivi. Actually not really political but, you know.

TL;DR of my opinions?
Stand with Israel
Protect the Palestinians
Stop Hamas.
Peace ☮️
Temporary displacement but nicer? Call for your country to help make the temporary haven nicer. 1 million people aren't easy to care for. There has to be damage to houses in that solution, insist that your country help rebuild them.

Find a way to speak up IN CONTEXT and ANSWER obvious pitfalls.

I'm not trying to convince you that supporting an alternative is wrong. I'm all for it myself. But you need to be clearer. How?

Take the blow, despite high chance of future massacres? Maybe call for your country's army to help defend the border.

BUT the reason for the displacement is that Israel wants to uproot the militant part of Hamas and anything it can use to grow, and because Hamas uses civilian areas to hide, which is an atrocity and AFAIK a war crime.

So when you talk about displacement do mention what SHOULD happen.
November 23, 2023 at 4:33 AM
"free Palestine" means, at its nicest interpretation that Israel is doing Palestinians wrong - shortly after a long planned massacre of Israelis.

What do you want to say, specifically?
You think the displacement is bad? Cool, me too. Hold a sign saying "find a solution other than displacement." BUT
November 23, 2023 at 4:28 AM
Do you think that the retaliation is too rough? Alright, THAT does take context into account. Good.
So say just THAT. And think of your alternative.
Shout slogans about the retaliation. Keep in mind that if they insinuate that Israel has no right to defend itself, you're singling it out.
November 23, 2023 at 4:22 AM
Even if you didn't mean that. I'm speaking to the people who didn't mean that. I can't understand how 7.10 supporters think.
So even if you only meant "peace and love", it's the wind at the back of those who wish harm.

In Hamas' case, it could convince them that it's safe to kill again.
November 23, 2023 at 4:19 AM
That is, by CONTEXT
1. Implying that the slaughtered are the problem. Thus, through context, deeming the slaughter as a good thing.
2. Implying that retaliation, even if for the removal of Hamas, or any other reason, is a bad thing.
3. Implying that anything the Hamas does is okay, incl. massacre.
November 23, 2023 at 4:14 AM
Now, protests. Are they only about the war? I doubt it. I think they call for a brighter future to Palestinians as a whole.
But there were no protests before Hamas slaughtered Israelis and there are many after the slaughter.

And, of course, Hamas has been constantly throwing missiles at nearby places in Israel, outside war time. Ignoring ceasefires. AND they've announced that 7.10 is only the first massacre of many.

>
November 23, 2023 at 4:08 AM
> Hamas blocked the roads, shot and murdered Palestinians who tried to flee south. Hamas risks Palestinians by operating from functioning schools, hospitals and mosques.
That stray PIJ missile (I'm conflating them to simplify) that killed 500? Not caring enough to prevent that. It's Happened before.
November 23, 2023 at 4:05 AM
So yeah, normally chopping off a tree is bad, but stopping someone from fixing a terrible risk, and being so insensitive to their recent loss, which is the motivation?

Hamas hurts everyone. Hamas takes your donation money and leaves its people poor. Hamas kills Palestinians who oppose them. >
November 23, 2023 at 4:02 AM
> Well, how about shouting it over and over to a neighbor whose kid just got injured or killed in a freak tree accident in his back yard, and is trying to remove that tree to avoid further accidents?

(just to clarify, the tree is Hamas, not Palestinians as a whole! That'd go against my values)

And if anyone - here, or that you explain the term to - sticks with their idea of a dictionary definition for it, remember that in other modern battles people insist to call trans women "men" because of old dictionary stuff. Both are wrong because the words have a different meaning soaked into them.
November 20, 2023 at 6:57 AM
If you shout that word in protests, who are you aiming it to?
Israelis? Then the message you're conveying is "murder the Jews with rocks, improvised bombs, knives, anything, as long as Jews die".
Is it to Palestinians? Then you're conveying "we support and urge you to do the above"
November 20, 2023 at 6:54 AM
I'll also note that the first one was centered more around the West Bank area, but the others were in just Israeli cities.

So what is intifada? A surprise uprising? Technically, yes. Violent? Usually implied. And to people from the middle east, intifada usually means series of terrorist attacks.
November 20, 2023 at 6:50 AM
Both attacks were Hamas BTW. It's in the Hamas charter, "freeing" Palestine from the Jews all the way from the Jordan river and the Mediterranean sea.

The mid 2010s saw the Knives intifada, where a bunch of individual young terrorists, probably Hamas, went and stabbed numerous israelis to death.
November 20, 2023 at 6:47 AM
Now, a few dead each time wasn't enough to finish us all off, but it did get people scared of buses and restaurants. Terror, it's in the name.

The intifada people attacked randomly. One of their largest attacks was in an area considered leftist. Another, in a party, mostly killed newish immigrants.
November 20, 2023 at 6:29 AM
Next, during my teen years, Palestinians started committing suicide bombings in Israeli cities. But in 2000, after a stupid (nonviolent) act by a right wing PM, they happened in droves. That's the 2nd Intifada, El Aktza. It felt like terrorist acts happen daily, with deaths and injuries and trauma.
November 20, 2023 at 6:24 AM
Now, I don't speak enough Arabic but I know what that word means to me as an Israeli.

When I first heard the word, at primary school age, it meant people stoning me to death. That was the 1st Palestinian intifada. My generation learned the words "intifada" and "molotov bottle" together.
November 20, 2023 at 6:12 AM
And probably as recruitment footage btw. "Like these sights? Join us now!" Hence also the joyful screenings of such footage, where the audience looked just the right age, gender and level of bloodlust and stomach for gore to join Hamas.
November 17, 2023 at 3:44 AM
You don't know the basics of rhetorics and you're preaching to others.

How about if you cuss at people nobody will take you seriously and you'll single handedly turn an argument into mud slinging.
November 17, 2023 at 3:35 AM
They can't? Some of them have been.

They've been taken while one side unilaterally attacked *civilians* from the other.

What guarantees that they don't execute them all when they're not under threat and the IDF is far outside the Strip?

Total annihilation IS on their charter.
