Presented at the wildlife disease association global voice session this week and despite a minor technical mess up at the end I think it well. My largest talk I've given so far (yay virtual and hybrid sessions) and I got to share my research on eDNA detection of avian influenza

Got good news from my preliminary work yesterday! In short I was able to take eDNA from water samples in wetlands and have successfully confirmed the presence of a major viral pathogen from the samples! Currently only one positive out of 10, but I think changes to methods will likely raise that.

I am happy to say that for this new technique and methodology I've been trying I have had positive results for the proof of concept!!

Anyone have any sources for making predictive models of disease spread. Having some frustrations sifting through all of the information

Well managed to get out today to gather my first samples of eDNA with the hopes of making a predictive model for avian influenza

Well, NSF postdoctoral grant was declined. Knew this was always, a possibility. Now to continue desperately searching for something before August.

When reaching out to collaborators or potential lab sponsors for positions is it okay to send a followup email or check again? Still trying to figure out the standard and etiquette in academia

Thanks to a discord friend I got a code! I'm an aquatic ecologist who studies how contaminants impact disease infection dynamics. I focus on amphibians so expect quite a bit of frogs and salamanders
