Big nerd who likes ships and airplanes. Recent Seattleite. Even more recent amateur radio operator. Send me fountain pen and bird pics. He/him

A dozen raccoons piloting a person-sized Eva.
I'd been looking for that watch for a few months at least, and those pruning shears for over a year. Jamming stuff in my pockets throughout the day is not a winning strategy

My other gripe is how they pull apart with surprisingly little force. Maybe that's just the Amazon kit I bought though.

I say this as someone who used Deutsch connectors to wire the fog lights on his car: Anderson powerpoles are overcomplicated fiddly wastes of time and I don't understand why the amateur radio community has such a hard on for them

It's a real problem. I went to use my drill press a few months ago and had to use big pliers and some random bits of metal to tighten the chuck

Especially given how they look and move like fluffy water balloons!

Once I heard two raccoons fighting in my back yard. I guess my dad instinct kicked in because I went out with a flashlight to... yell at them? The look they gave me as they fled over the fence could kill a lesser being.

I'm going to assume it's been raining hard enough that I can safely use a propane torch

My kid understood the concept of brio train cars needing to be flipped around in order to snap together sometimes, but he only recently got frustrated at it and started asking questions

I was trying to explain magnets to my three year old over the weekend and I got to magnetic domains and then went "wait, what the fuck are magnetic domains?"

The knowledge that every single person on this plane will be reminded not to vape

I love (cannot stand) that! The wide-eyed confusion. The sense that every passenger is trying to reframe the experience in terms of the turnip truck they're used to. Trying to stuff three sheep into the overhead bin. Dumping a grocery bag of spaghetti out onto the tray table
