Russia aggression continues to wreak havoc on civilians in Ukraine. At least 28 killed, 100+ injured in Russia’s June 17 strike on Kyiv. Amnesty has verified the use of cluster munitions, either deliberate targeting of civilians, reckless disregard for life, or both. This may constitute war crimes.

We are extremely alarmed by the latest information we have received regarding Dr. Hussam Abu Safiyyah, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital. He should now be considered victim of enforced disappeared, at great risk of torture and ill-treatment. Israel authorities must urgently disclose his location.

For months Dr. Abu Safiya has been the voice of Gaza decimated health sector, appealing for the protection of his hospital, working under inhumane conditions, including following the killing of his son. Israel's raid put Kamal Adwan, the last remaining major hospital in the area, out of service.

We at @amnesty are extremely concerned over the fate & wellbeing of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, director of Kamal Adwan hospital who was detained by Israeli forces along with others during a raid on the hospital on 27 December. He must be released immediately and unconditionally.
