Fossil fuel companies are laughing in our faces , and while the planet burns , they continue to ‘drill baby drill’ and further their exploitation of people and nature .

That's why I'm calling on the UK Government to ban fossil fuel ads outright – sign my petition now at lovera.ge/ban-ffa

Brilliant, clear, and brave article from Sally Rooney

‘Every year, every month, the argument grows more and more difficult to refute. We know what’s already happening around us. And we know what’s coming next. When are we going to have the courage to stop it?’

Sally Rooney: When are we going to have the courage to stop the climate crisis?
Capitalism is driving the destruction of our planet. We have to think outside – and against – the framework of our current political system

Woe be it on the head of anyone who dares suggest climate crisis is an existential threat or that capitalism is in the process of wiping us all out; they need to be mocked, ridiculed, called a religious cult & marginalised by media at every turn.

It’s hard to imagine a clearer example of GREENWASHING.

The Oil and chemical companies who created ‘The Alliance to END Plastic Waste’ have produced 1,000x more NEW plastic in five years than the waste they cleaned up!

Interesting Netflix doc ‘Buy Now’. Didn’t need the autotuned corporate robot narrator, but highlights many symptoms a Degrowth strategy would target: cynically heightened consumption, no concern for waste, coercive advertising, planned obsolescence, intentional product destruction & green washing

If you bring central London to a halt in order to campaign against catastrophic climate change then you're a "barmy" eco "fanatic" who deserves to be locked up.

If you do the same to hang on to your multimillion pound inheritance tax exemption then you're a brave freedom fighter defying the odds

How privatisation works (and Thames Water is just the latest example).
1. A government takes a national asset built up with taxpayers' money and the work of public servants over many years, and hands it, for a fraction of its value, to a private company.
2. In doing so, it creates a monopoly.

CCS for mitigation is waaaay down on the list of Things We Should Be Doing. It's unreliable, completely cost-ineffective, and doesn't really do much, as this IPCC mitigation ladder shows

So guess what the UK government is investing $25 billion in?

Jeremy Clarkson, James Dyson, the Earl of Derby – they’re up in arms about paying tax on the vast areas of land they own.

Small farmers are worried that changes to Agricultural Property Relief (APR) will affect them. But who are the big landowners complaining the loudest? Thread: 1/
