Tl;dr Trans Suicide Hotline: 877.565.8860

Things are real bad right now and the aren't getting better anytime soon, especially for trans folks. Suicide was already a leading cause of death for our trans friends and I can't imagine that number getting better without direct involvement.
I decided to start Outer Worlds again and I’m enjoying it so much more this time. I’m exactly the kind of person that publishers hate.

This might be a long shot, but does anyone here know anything about running for office in WA state? I know someone mulling the idea over and I really don’t want Kim Schrier to be my only choice next August.

Do ya’ll think smoke actually tastes good on food or we evolved to appreciate it?

I smoked a turkey today and it is the best one I’ve ever made.

Today I read something incredibly melancholic, both beautiful and sad and wanted to share. For context, a friend of mine (who fucking loves talking about bugs) was asked about Butterflies and had the below to say in response:

Very pleased to learn that "After 1177 BC: The Survival of Civilizations" has been chosen to receive a Biblical Archaeology Society 2025 Publication Award for "Best Popular Book on Archaeology" (for books published during 2023 and 2024).

Comic reading friends! @therealitycomics.bsky.social released a new line of stories to check out. I just read the first issue of Weredevil and enjoyed it immensely. It’s a little gritty, a little rough around the edges (a good thing) and well written. Find them on comixology or Etsy!

Amazon is helping fund a $300 million build of a ballroom for the White House.

Independent bookstores are donating to food banks and organizations that help with food insecurity.

They are not the same.

Movie 21 - Shell: This Elizabeth Moss body horror-ish movie about a deadly beauty product had the misfortune of releasing the same year as the substance, being less inventive than the substance and being awful. 4/10

Movie 20 - Your Host: Low budget movie with the acting you'd expect by the bulk of the cast, but a pretty fun turn by Jackie Earle Haley. However, the overarching theme of the movie, that women lie about sexual assault to get money, is the real horror. 0/10 - Eat Shit

Movie 19 - A Nightmare on Elm Street: So many old slasher movies struggle to hold up to the test of time, but Wes Craven crafted a timeless classic with Freddy Krueger that is still as terrifying as it was... 41 years ago. Holy shit I am so fucking old. 7/10!

Movie 18 - Perfect Neighbor: Not a movie, but this documentary is horrifying. A neighborhood Karen constantly yells at local kids and calls the police if she can hear them in her house, until one day a tragedy happens. Told entirely through actual police body cams. 7/10
