Oregon’s Attorney General. Fighting for working families, keeping communities safe, and defending Oregon’s values every day.
It is unconscionable that we have a president who wants to penalize states for feeding people who are hungry - and that's why we'll continue to fight like hell for Oregonians.

Our organized crime unit works around the clock to keep communities across Oregon safe from drug trafficking, retail theft, and much more.

It’s always a pleasure to welcome new criminal justice investigators to the Oregon DOJ to work for Oregonians!

Oregon will not let the president threaten and attack hungry families – and we are going to fight like hell to keep SNAP benefits where they belong.
November 10, 2025 at 6:39 PM
This morning, the president ordered states to not distribute full SNAP benefits for November, and demanded that states “undo” any benefits payments that have already been sent to working families for food.

Read our statement in response.

No president in the history of this country has ever tried to leverage food assistance in this political way.

The fact that we have to go to court to try to get people fed… it’s incredibly disheartening.

But we’ll continue to fight for Oregonians & basic human decency every day.

We just got a huge win for Oregonians - and a check on the president's power: we received a ruling preventing the president from deploying the National Guard on the streets of our cities.

No one - not even the president - is above the law.
November 8, 2025 at 2:24 AM
BREAKING NEWS: We just secured a final court order blocking National Guard deployment!

Today's ruling is a huge victory for Oregon. The courts are holding this administration accountable to the truth and the rule of law.

LAWSUIT UPDATE: TRANSPORTATION FUNDING: We've protected over $700 million in transportation funding in Oregon.

Oregonians depend on safe roads and reliable transit to get to work, school, and home. By protecting this funding, we're keeping our roads safe and our economy moving.

Hunger must not be used as a political weapon. Today, families across Oregon are finally receiving full November SNAP benefits – a win for both the rule of law and basic human decency.

We remain committed to fighting for working families every day.

The president is disconnected from real facts and real people.

Costs are going up and working families are struggling - and meanwhile, the president is yanking benefits and passing regressive taxes: tariffs.

Today, the Oregon Department of Justice appeared in front of the Oregon Supreme Court standing up for public safety.

The case at hand is Measure 114, a gun control measure approved by Oregon voters in 2022.

We have an affordability crisis in this country. Trump’s illegal tariffs are impacting working families and small businesses across Oregon — and that’s why we filed a lawsuit to stop them.
November 7, 2025 at 1:23 AM
LAWSUIT UPDATE: SNAP BENEFITS: We've taken action to compel the Trump administration to deliver full SNAP benefits. We argue the government has created chaos & delay with the roll-out of partial benefits, has the money to fully fund the program, and is legally required to do so.
November 6, 2025 at 9:36 PM
There are constitutional ways for the president to set tariffs - with safeguards, set by Congress. Trump even used them in his first term.

This time, though, he chose to abuse an emergency power to set illegal tariffs.
November 6, 2025 at 9:02 PM
Today in the Supreme Court, the president’s own lawyers said that the American people will pay 30-80% of the $4 trillion in tariffs.

Meanwhile, we’re experiencing an affordability crisis: rising costs of groceries, cuts to food benefits, and more.

This is a betrayal of trust.

Grateful to be with colleagues @azagmayes.bsky.social and @agrobbonta.oag.ca.gov at the Supreme Court this morning to stand up against the president’s illegal tariffs.

These tariffs are an unlawful tax on all of us – and now, the Supreme Court needs to hold the president accountable.

Today in the Supreme Court, the government’s own attorney admitted that the American people will pay 30-80% of Trump’s tariffs.

These tariffs are an unlawful tax on working families.

The Supreme Court needs to make sure no one is above the law — not even the president.

We just presented our case at the U.S. Supreme Court — these tariffs are an illegal abuse of emergency power that’s harming working families across our country.

Oregon Solicitor General Ben Gutman joins to talk about how it went.

BREAKING NEWS: We just filed a lawsuit to protect Oregon’s emergency & homeland security funding.

Without this funding, the Oregon Dept. of Emergency Management estimates that 2/3 of Oregon’s counties could lose significant capacity to perform basic emergency management functions.
