Mini placentas and ovaries could improve treatment for women’s health issues.

"Lab-made organoids that mimic reproductive tissues could point to treatments for common conditions such as pre-eclampsia and endometriosis."

Read this piece. It gives a great impression of #TCTeAC WoodstockBio2 & Night Science from one of the #Instigators. This is the next best thing to being there... I like the expression #BohemianFixers. Many thanks to them! Děkujeme.

Some bits from #TCTeAC #Barkley marathon. We had ~25 runners, 3 cyclists, 9 finished 2nd round, 6 did a #funrun and went on to become #Finishers. One got lost, two almost drowned 😉. The rest was tapped out by Phillip’s #trumpet. All cyclists did at least one run. #Kata ruled - 🏃‍♀️. Lazarus Lake says 🫡

Excellent Op-Ed by Peter Zandstra on improving 🇨🇦 science at a time when 🇺🇸 is throttling their golden goose. Instead of bespoke, targeted & ultimately short term solutions limited to a few people, build a deep, more attractive ecosysyem. The best will thrive. www.theglobeandmail.com/gift/46242ee...
Canada’s U.S. brain gain is risky without more foundational support for science
Scientists want to come to Canada not only to escape the chaos and uncertainty emerging in U.S. science but also because they are drawn to the energy here

💯.

I’d love nothing more than recruiting my American colleagues. But there’s already very limited funding in Canada & we are in a trade war with the US that will economically devastate both countries.
Totally true for Australia as well. We are not a viable end point for a brain drain.
Pet peeve: I hate how often ppl claim “all the researchers will just move to Europe/Canada!” You vastly under-estimate how little money there is there vs the USA- and unless that changes ASAP this loss is just going to decimate global science, full stop. 🧪🔭

Great to see this out! Congrats @amy-inkster.bsky.social on such thoughtful insightful work!
Feels like a strange time to be sharing research news, but the final manuscript from my PhD is now available online! In this article we explore the unique low-methylated state of the inactive X chromosome in the human placenta. doi.org/10.1186/s132...
