The Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), specifically Article 92, makes it illegal to follow unlawful orders that are "manifestly" illegal: violates the U.S. Constitution, U.S. law or international law, like the Geneva Conventions. Following an illegal order can lead to criminal liability.
