The private prison that Shane Bauer went undercover at for this article, the Winn Correctional Center, is currently being used as an ICE detention center and is still run by the same private prison company, to illustrate how bad things can get.

Yeah, and the Jena facility is bad. It's run by a private prison company so they slashed services to the bone, and there are tons of allegations of abuse and medical neglect. It's a bad place to be. It's also been that way for years.
I hope this opens peoples' eyes to these longstanding problems.

It really is in the middle of the middle of nowhere, far from any major population centre, several miles outside a small town centre. How can an eight-month pregnant spouse be expected to travel here to visit their loved one?
