4. Republicans and are not acting in good faith and have no realistic plan for protecting Americans healthcare. 5. All of this was caused by a push to trim the budget without examining the consequences of doing so. 6. Republicans don’t really care if SNAP benefits run out.

The context of my post is reserved for democracies - specifically the United States. To extend this logic outward at the current moment is beyond the scope of my intent for the post.

Nor does it require us to agree with those with whom we empathize. It is the foundation for having a dialogue and a debate. Without empathy civil discourse is little more than controlled speaking past one another.

Civil discourse requires us to see the humanity in those with whom we disagree. Civil discourse by its nature requires empathy. Empathy is not weakness.

Celebrating individuals who espouse these things is tolerating political violence. It is condoning and accepting political violence. Rather we need to a civil discourse rooted empathy.

It is present in individuals who stoke violence and hatred against minorities based on ethinic, religious, sexual, or gender. It resides in hate filled rhetoric that declares certain races to be intellectually inferior to others.
