Cuts to SNAP benefits are cruel. And it’s AFSCME members like Stacy Smith (Local 2882), who work on the front lines as eligibility specialists, who are seeing the effects: "We had a client that came in & was afraid she'd have to go back to eating cat food."
SNAP recipients to get as much as two-thirds of promised benefits.
After saying it could only provide 50% of food stamp benefits this month, USDA now says it can go up to 65%. Recipients are already feeling the cuts.
