Cyclone #Ditwah sparked chain disaster in #SriLanka. Landfall @Trincomalee brought torrential rain, triggering #landslides in Badulla, Nuwara Eliya, Floods drowned Colombo & Gampaha. 69 dead, 34 missing, 18k displaced. Warnings came late too narrow, too little. Multi‑hazard forecasting must evolve.

#COP30 is set to close in two days, and the Brazilian presidency is confident that the gavel will fall on time, or early.️

Such a conclusion would be an outlier: Since 1995, only 4 COPs ended early or on time.
