Maybe we need different terms for un-American in the sense of “is not something America has historically done” and un-American in the sense of “is not America living up to its ideals and not something America should want to happen (again)”. Perhaps the latter could be “anti-American”.

Maduro doesn’t have to buy him off I don’t think. I’m no lawyer but I believe the prosecution falls apart if you were kidnapped and not legally arrested by the government that is prosecuting you. It’s partly why we’ve held people in Gitmo for over 20 years.

Twitter could tend towards one-to-many conversations too, but I get your point. The some-to-some communication ideal of original Twitter was very alluring to me. Maybe social networks trend towards one-to-many communications even without enshittification.

He didn’t say anything about source code or sideloading. The way Phil Zimmermann avoided charges of weapons trafficking for making PGP available for download outside the U.S. was having MIT Press print the source code in a book. That’s what made it a 1A issue. Otherwise it’s an App Store TOS issue.

I’m sure you do. I believe you are. However the thesis was the *average* American doesn’t feel particularly oppressed. I don’t think the average American is on exogenous hormones. If they were I’d think I’d see more commercials for them on TV.
