There are already a lot of good bug snacks. Recently, I tried some that tasted just like lime lays.. I could already eat bugs if they weren't so expensive.

If monolingual English journalist can check the spelling of a French or a Spanish name, they can check Polish or Vietnamese names as well

The problem is that they simplify only the transcriptions of not western languages, creating a hierarchy of languages that are important enough to care about their spelling (mostly languages of ex colonial empires) and languages that are not so important to respect (mostly previous colonies).

Most Americans and English are monolingual. It's not like every journalist knows French or Portuguese.

But that is not even the point. You were arguing that it would be too hard for NYT to use diacritics in foreign languages, and I already showed you that there are much smaller newspapers that do this. And I it was so hard they wouldn't use them in other Western languages.
