several of my favorite horror (and not necessarily "horror" in the conventional sense but "horror" in the "horrific art" definitional sense) films are "about" exactly that, yeah. precisely because i find that to be about as true as the hemingway derivation when it comes to this sort of thing!

i have some inchoate thoughts about how the brief Swinging London fad for music-history revival was part of an effort to make pop function more like film and literature, where historical recreation is part of the standard toolkit, but having to please a youth audience made it unsustainable longterm

one of the great struggles of my life the last 5+ years is how hard it is to act on my knowledge that i need to start living in a way that no longer narrows itself down to merely the next few weeks, and accepts that i have to have *plans* for the future, because i am going to have to live to see one
