Interesting approach by @KaneCoSheriff SAR group & @BLMUtah making the warning sign an affordance as well - look at the photo closely to see how...

Yup, Dog HOT and people HOT aren't quite the same

While we're talking pups🐾also hearing anecdotally about incidents of dogs being poisoning by THC via discarded items and people poop. Keep an eye out and call @ASPCA_APCC pet poison control if concerned (888) 426-4435

Truly amazing (terrifying) first person video - inside in a flash flood in Zion😱

Great for upping your availability to help you make the right call when you're on the spot.

So easy to be tempted to head out despite the forecast when the🌞 s shining

I couldn't find a Google Map with all of the @NatlParkService units shown, so I made one!

Handy for trip planning and to catch those less well-known units.

You can also "copy" the map to make your own version to track your NPS visits 😎

Fascinating, thorough accounting of a very close call on Mt Whitney that occurred prior to this week's tragedy

The spot where it looks likely this person fell is one that had worried me on my last few visits.

Always watch your footing out there, and don't assume just b/c many walk away after pushing their luck means that you will too 😢

Just-in-time signage at Pecos National Historical Park

Interesting language too "Enter with care" seems to cover both the visitor and the resource 😊

Great advice from @alpineclubcan in @calgaryherald

“...so many people have no clue what scrambling really is. It’s full-on mountaineering without ropes on a mountain falling apart."

“Research, research, research and don’t overestimate your abilities..."

“Because life isn’t about responsibilities, tough decisions and hard work, it’s about feeling bliss and living in the moment.”

Wild places + blissful optimism can be a deadly combo 😢 Pls don't head out here if you don't want to be calculating & careful

So sad. Reminiscent of similar incident at Yosemite where those trying to help end up following the primary victim over the falls 💔

Don't ever underestimate a river, and never wade above a falls, no matter how calm the water may seem at that spot

🙌 “We strongly feel like by the time they reach the trailhead they’ve already made their decisions,” Schroyer said. “We’ve found that very few people stop and listen or stop and read the trailhead signs.”
