Over this summer research season, we thought we'd share some of what we've been up to on the Advances team.

@drhannahlscott.bsky.social (recordings reviews) has been on an historic costume course, & having a dalliance with the 18thc. of which we just about approve since the dress is rather fancy.

Research find of the day:

Cat Musketeers - Chats Mousquetaires - at the Paris mid-Lentan costume parade, 1894.

All for one, nightmares for all.

Ever want to review something from/inspired by the 19th century that isn't a book - like a film, TV series, podcast, documentary, music recording, or other recorded media?

That's handy - we have a recordings reviews editor (me!) Do get in touch with proposals and queries ⬇️

Good morning all!
We'd love you all to meet Karen Sayer, our Practica Editor here at Advances.

What is a practicum? It's the how, what, why & where of teaching the nineteenth century - & Karen would love to see proposals for reflective pieces, provocations, best practice, resources, & more

It's time for..... *drumroll* ......our first #funfactfriday!

Why not @ us with a fun fact from your research, and we'll give it a repost?

I'll start: fun fact - did you know early smallpox vaccination sessions were attended by a live cow to supply super-fresh cowpox puss? Lovely.
