Yo you JUST SAID it was an example?! But when politics are morals, it’s totally chill to be completely inconsistent and sail with the wind. Lines are placed by the winners, politic strategy is downstream of political culture. Ezra’s moral relativism is why he feels so lost in the political moment.

Ezra recently made some comment out of his ass about running more pro-life candidates. Because most of the issues of the moment don’t affect him personally - and because politics are morals - it’s easy to toss this out there and then hide behind “oh it was rhetoric”

The closest we get to Ezra realizing that the role he wants to play and the role he is playing aren’t the same, and that he might have some kind of moral imperative to show up a certain way. But morals are politics, right? So it’s interpreted as a political imperative.
