If there is the demand, they don't need a tax break. If there isn't demand, the tax break is a bad idea as it penalizes current hotel owners. Either way, the tax break is a bad idea.

I think they could. Trump campaigned on the country being bad and "I'll fix it." GOP would do the same in cities: "crime is horrible, I'll fix it." Especially if cities incorporated suburbs, suburban voters who rarely go to city centers due to fear of crime would vote that way.

Democrats have ample material to make the case that the sole governing principle of Republicans is to hurt people. They threatened to starve kids, they're sending healthcare costs through the roof, and they're doing this all while funneling billions of dollars to ICE so they can kidnap people.
