I'll second the audiobook version of Devil in the Grove specifically. Everyone involved in the production of it knew what they were doing. It's such a pleasure to be in the hands of real pros.

Yeah, it's real bad. It's not normal MAGA crazy, it's a "possibly not fit to stand trial" kind of situation.

I've put a graphic media label on the pictures so nobody has to see them if they don’t want to. If you don’t have a strong stomach, please please don’t click. It's not gonna improve your day.

That article is so unsettling! I'm not exactly glad I read it, but I'm glad you posted it. You know what I mean?

I know there’s other stuff at work here, and I'm not denying the rank hypocrisy and victimhood she clearly adores.

But more than anything, truly, this woman is profoundly unwell. Like, really, really in need of help. The photos are gruesome. This isn't just a stunt; she's clearly in crisis.

-> in the day? And only a couple of prisoners in that hallway were interviewed, and they were in the cells furthest away from Epstein?

Narcissists in prison die by suicide every day and maybe I'm being silly. But the number of inexplicable coincidences stacked on top of each other is odd. It's odd!

I'm not conspiracy-minded (which is, of course, exactly what a conspiracist would say, oh god), and I find it faintly embarrassing to say aloud, but:

There really ::are:: a number of things that do not add up about Epstein's death. Like really a lot. Apparently his cellmate was moved out earlier ->

According to folks who study hategroup signalling, that 'ok' gesture only became associated with white power in 2017 after it oozed out of a disgusting 4chan in-joke.

I was surprised; feels like it's been in the aether for ages, but it’s sickeningly recent.

If we're discussing transphobic politics in NZ, you simply can't account for how we got here without talking about the filth that the UK has been exporting wholesale.
November 19, 2025 at 8:42 PM
Ohhhh you haven't been to the UK in a while then. 😞

"Administrivia" is a gorgeous coinage!

I have ALWAYS respected your wise analysis, LDP. xx

Ohhhh this is reassuring to hear! I usually don't get them at the same time, and my immune system is having a PROPER hissy fit about it. Like, calm down T-cells, you do not have to smear woad on yourselves and prepare for battle, the village is not under attack.

Hiya, this is AI. There are no news reports about this anywhere, nor any confirmation whatsoever from Boston Police Comissioner Michael Cox himself.

There are so many real racist obscenities happening right now that it can be hard to tell what's authentic, but this particular one has been faked.

Exquisitely, exactly correct.

Oh wow, I'd never consciously realised until right this second that other people have this experience of pain too. (It makes me feel oddly emotional to know it's not just me.)

Pain exists on a dull grey Bouba to bright red Kiki spectrum for me, but I TOTALLY understand the yellow association.

This is so beautiful, and I just got a funny shiver of delight thinking about it.

It's such a thrilling feeling to feel your brain change and grow when you're in a new environment. The world feels so much more vivid and present, you know? Not easier or better, exactly, just ::more::
November 19, 2025 at 3:33 PM
Oh that's super interesting, and I've never consciously thought about it before! I lived in Italy, and yes, "otto" is chocolate brown, but "eight" is cherry red. Isn't that odd. I'd never realised it!

Oh no, I'm gonna be thinking about this ALL DAY 😂

My synesthesia is relatively mild, so not every word has a taste, but it’s still extremely weird. "Syphilis" tastes sweet and green, like new peas straight from the pod; "gonorrhea" tastes like rotten mustard. (Lol I'm so, so sorry, I'll get my coat.)

Do you think your synesthesia affects your art?
November 19, 2025 at 2:57 PM
Describing the experience of synesthesia out loud is so EMBARRASSING.

It makes complete logical sense in my own mind, but the second I hear myself describe it, I think: "Oh no I am an alien and I must stop talking immediately."
November 19, 2025 at 2:43 PM
When did you figure out that you experience it?

I have grapheme-colour and lexical-gustatory synesthesia (for anyone unfamiliar, that means letters and numbers have colours, and I taste words. Jesus it's so weird when I say it.)

I was TWENTY NINE before I realised that 7 isn't green for everyone.

No no, you just ::evolve:: them, Jess. Cover the fake cobwebs with glittery snow spray. Give the pumpkins jaunty Santa hats. The skeletons get charming Rudolph noses and antlers. We are REDUCING and REUSING (because we are LAZY).
