I am an author and educator in Chicago. My latest novel is DOWN THE STEEP, a Great Group Reads 2024 pick for book clubs. I teach literacy education at Northeastern Illinois University. Also, I have a cat.

Two years ago I went on the trip of my dreams--Australia! Here I am on the Great Ocean Road. In a parallel universe, I emigrated to Australia at the age of 22, lived a long and happy life there, and will soon retire among my sheep and kangaroos.

This is my cat. Her name is Captain Jack. Given her tuxedo coat and her name, everyone thinks she's male. I like to think she's nonbinary.
