Getting a workable machine cert was also kind of a pain. We rightly prevent the exporting of private keys from the ADCS machine certificates our machines receive via GPO. So a coworker and I had to kind slow through how to write a proper csr. Here's a sanitized picture of what that looks like.

As a pseudo-user SYSTEM mostly likely does not possess all of the "plumbing" that regular users have. The dot3svc (correctly, I should point out) expects that plumbing to be present.

Quck protip: filter on the svchost -k LocalServiceNetworkRestricted image. The dot3svc is loaded into this service as a dll file.
