When the government decided to let COVID-19 loose, they decided at that exact same time to do two things.

Make life difficult and lonely for elderly and disabled people.

Kill elderly and disabled people by playing dress up and pretend it’s 2019, because we want to be “kind”.

People get so triggered by disabled or covid cautious people wearing masks that they will spend all day trolling our posts

Yet they say nothing about ICE covering their faces

Ask yourselves why someone masking for health is more offensive than masking for obscuring identity?

If you’re able to donate to food banks, don’t forget to ask your local shelter if they have a pet food bank. Shelters are always overwhelmed when things are good, but when money gets tight pets are one of the first things people get rid of. I know it’s a relief for people to have help for their pets

Yes.

Yes kids should be wearing masks in schools and being given cleaner air.

Those masks should be comfy and cheap.

Why?

Because kids are getting sick with a disease that we know very little about, and what we do know, is looking problematic.

I think I shocked someone to the core.

They discovered I still take C19 seriously enough to practice precautions.

After more than 5 years.

Because.

The evidence says it’s still a problem.

Disability is one of the only minority groups you can join at any time.

Everyone thinks they will be the exception.

It won’t happen to them. They will “try harder” and overcome.

They think we’re failing.

It is not a moral failing and very few people will be the exception.

Disability benefits processes, “reforms”, and cuts kill people.

They kill disabled people through poverty.
They kill disabled people through fear.

And all the current rhetoric, hate, and misinformation kills more.

As we head into a new week, please know that your best is good enough. If you give your best effort every day then you are living life to the full. Try not to judge yourself or compare yourself to others. Your journey is yours alone. Live it. 😊

This incessant focus on employment, even for people who can potentially work, is ridiculous in my view.

The primary focus for any disabled person should be supporting them to maximise their quality of life before anything else is even considered.

Employers do discriminate based on disability... All the time.

They just do it in ways that aren't "obvious", and they rely on the process to complain/challenge legally being so hard and inaccessible that most won't do it.

This is your regular reminder that Covid is airborne.

It’s not over. It’s still killing and disabling people.

It’s a novel virus and we still don’t know the full long term effects, but what we do know is not encouraging.

Wear a mask. Clean the air. Stay home when sick.

Protect one another.

Being disabled and in daily debilitating, excruciating pain and getting rejected for disability has gotta be one of the most American experiences ever

Noticing less than one person a day wearing N95s or masks of any sort in my community is extremely isolating/terrifying

Doctor thanks me for taking the covid surge seriously and masking, while neither he nor anybody in the practice was masking.
