I'm still puzzling over Ita Buttrose claiming in court today that ABC staff had not checked into Ms Lattouf's background in any way, and Ms Buttrose had formed no opinion of her one way or the other - but somehow Ms Buttrose knew with great certainty that Ms Lattouf was an "activist".

Eh?

The median super account balance for Australians under 40 is ~$57-60K

Many Australians who'd like to buy a house don't actually have $50K sitting in their super account.

As usual, Peter Dutton is talking baseless, unadulterated shit.

Accused by a whistleblower of covering up an oil spill that killed dolphins and sea snakes, Santos get fined just $10k 🤯

Santos spends up to $US3.3m per year on a private jet for their executives so I don’t think AUD10k is going to hurt them.

Gas giant Santos fined $10,000 for 25,000-litre oil spill off Pilbara coast
The energy giant has pleaded guilty to causing an oil spill in 2022, that leaked 25,000 litres of oil off WA's north-west coast. Santos will pay a $10,000 fine and $9,700 in court costs for failing to...

Why becoming more politically active is the best new years resolution you can make

At the supermarket late tonight, an elderly woman shuffled before me; a far-off melancholy gaze, weathered shoes

She waited for me to pass her before squashing a box of teabags into her cardigan pocket . . . and I swear you hallucinate the strangest things late at night in the supermarket

Seawalls? We should fight them, and not just on the northern beaches
We have our heads buried in the proverbial sand when it comes to coastal erosion. The time to think about the fate of our beloved beaches is now.

In 2021 the Govt of Qatar was forecast to collect $26.6 billion in royalties from its LNG reserves. Our Govt was forecast to receive $800 million for the same volume of gas. Both the old parties have given away our wealth and aren’t interested in changing this state of affairs. #auspol

The fastest growing political party in Australia isn't a party at all.

Approximately 1/3 of voting Australians didn't vote for any of the major parties at the '22 election.

The rise of the community independents, candidates not beholden to any party, is changing our political scene for the better.

Bollocks. He’s a devious, cynical, reactionary bully, a policy black hole, a disgrace to the office.
Dutton’s had a great year, but 2025 will test his one great weakness
Peter Dutton has been a worthy opposition leader, exceeding most expectations. 2025 will test whether he has the hunger to win.

Peter Dutton was part of a govt that for 9 years, drove people on benefits into the ground, chasing some for a measly $10.50, and even, causing some to suicide

And now this vainglorious plaster-saint tells Australians he's had high-level legal advice, but we can't be told its value

Oh the stench
