Saw the re-release of The Dark Crystal. Folks familiar with my work know it was a huge influence on the fantasy world of Dardunah, a TTRPG setting I first created and published under the Shard Studios banner as Shard. I owe a lot to the genius of Jim Henson and Frank Oz.

I'm gonna run a new Ten Realms fantasy TTRPG campaign using the Fantasy Age 2e rules.

What's your go-to fantasy RPG system other than D&D? What do you love about it?

Is Masks a good system to run non-teenage supers? I'm specifically looking for a PbtA system.

I like experimenting with different cuisines. To date, I've made Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Moroccan, Hungarian, and Ethiopian food. What should I tackle next?

Trying to find a name to be called when I become a grandfather. Not sure I like the Southern ones like "Pepaw" or "Papaw" or "Pappy" or the traditional ones like "Gramps" or "Grampa" or "Grandad." The Latino ones are okay like "Buelito" or "Papi" but I'm not sure. What are your favorites?

The House GOP voted to add $20 trillion dollars to our national debt. Every single one of them. Those spineless bastards can NEVER complain about the debt or deficits without being viciously mocked. I hope conservative voters wake up and realize their reps do not give a shit about them.

I support blue states withholding federal taxes if the Orange Shitstain cuts off their federal funds. That seems like a grand idea.

The sooner conservatives can be made to realize that there is no Republican Party anymore, it's dead, there is only the MAGAt Party, and that they are an authoritarian-worshipping party, the sooner we may start to see the balance in Congress shift away from the fascists.

I'd been on wifi for so long that I forgot how fast a direct ethernet connection could be. No more getting dropped from work video conference meetings anymore!

My RPG system goals:

1. Simple, intuitive mechanics.
2. Minimal math, no numbered stats.
3. Easy, customizable character creation.
4. Narrative-focused, impressionist combat.
5. Flexible, imaginative magic system.
6. Satisfying character progression.

Easy, right?

How many GMs use music in their games? I use it pretty extensively. It makes a huge impact on the mood and the enthusiasm of the players.

Perception rolls in TTRPGs. Are they necessary? Or should characters with a high perception attribute (or whatever notice stat is appropriate) simply detect what the GM wanted the players to notice? Skills such as search, concealment, etc., would still apply to find truly hidden items. Thoughts?

I enjoyed Hellboy: The Crooked Man. It felt very much like a Mignola comic. I recommend it.
